State Loses Respected Media Professional

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has mourned the passing of veteran journalist and News Direct State Correspondent, Comrade Dave Okpogadie, describing his death as a painful loss to the journalism profession and Delta State.

The seasoned reporter passed away on Saturday after battling jaw cancer for more than two years.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor sympathised with the late journalist’s family, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, members of the media and associates of the deceased.

Celebrating a Life of Service

Governor Oborevwori said Okpogadie distinguished himself through professionalism, dedication and integrity, earning the confidence and respect of colleagues as well as members of the public.

According to the governor, the late journalist’s contributions to the media profession strengthened public information and reflected the important role of responsible journalism in democratic governance.

He noted that the deceased’s legacy would continue to inspire journalists committed to ethical reporting and public service.

Prayers for the Bereaved

The governor further acknowledged the courage and resilience displayed by Okpogadie throughout his prolonged illness, describing his unwavering faith and determination as remarkable.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to comfort his family, friends, professional colleagues and the NUJ Delta State Council as they mourn the loss of a respected media practitioner.
