Oborevwori Inaugurates Six Political Appointees
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated two new commissioners and four other political appointees, urging them to uphold the principles of integrity, accountability and professionalism as they assume their new responsibilities.
The swearing-in ceremony, held in Asaba, marked another step in the administration’s efforts to reinforce governance structures and sustain the implementation of its M.O.R.E. Agenda, with the governor emphasizing that public office is a trust that must be exercised in the interest of the people.
The newly inaugurated officials include Mr. Brave Enodeh and Mr. Moses Ogodo as Commissioners and members of the Delta State Executive Council. Also sworn in were Mr. Cosmas Igbenije as a member of the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), alongside Chief Joseph Ojobu, Chief James Obeuwou and Mr. Fun-Ebi Edonyabo as members of the Delta State Judicial Service Commission.
Appointments Follow Cabinet Reshuffle
Governor Oborevwori explained that the appointments of the two commissioners became necessary following the resignation of two former cabinet members who left office to pursue elective positions in the Delta State House of Assembly.
He noted that government remains committed to ensuring continuity in policy implementation by promptly filling key positions to maintain the efficiency of the executive arm.
The governor urged the commissioners to provide purposeful leadership and contribute meaningfully to policy formulation and execution in line with the developmental priorities of his administration.
Call for Transparency and Ethical Leadership
Addressing the appointees, Oborevwori stressed that integrity and accountability must remain the foundation of public service.
He challenged them to discharge their duties with transparency, fairness and dedication while ensuring that their conduct strengthens public confidence in government institutions.
According to him, every decision taken by public officials should reflect the administration’s commitment to good governance and responsible leadership.
He further reminded them that the expectations of Deltans extend beyond routine administration to the delivery of tangible development outcomes capable of improving citizens’ quality of life.
DESOPADEC’s Development Role Highlighted
Speaking specifically on the appointment of Mr. Cosmas Igbenije to the DESOPADEC Board, the governor urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him through disciplined and effective service.
He acknowledged the commission’s contributions to the development of oil-producing communities through investments in roads, education, healthcare, electricity, potable water and other critical infrastructure.
Oborevwori encouraged the board to sustain its intervention programmes and deepen efforts aimed at improving living conditions across host communities.
Judicial Commission Members Charged on Independence
The governor also tasked the newly inaugurated members of the Delta State Judicial Service Commission with protecting the independence and credibility of the judiciary.
He urged them to perform their constitutional responsibilities with fairness, impartiality and integrity, noting that a transparent judicial system remains essential to the rule of law and democratic governance.
According to him, strengthening collaboration between the executive and judicial arms of government will continue to promote institutional stability and public trust.
Appointees Pledge Commitment
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Commissioner Brave Enodeh expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve.
He assured the governor that the new officials would work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them and contribute effectively toward the implementation of the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, political leaders and other stakeholders who witnessed the formal inauguration of the new appointees.
