NIGERIA’S Super Falcons produced a clinical second-half display to defeat Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses 3-0 in an international friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, ending the two-match series on a high note.
The encounter was evenly contested in the opening 45 minutes, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut opportunities. Senegal remained disciplined defensively, frustrating the Nigerian attack and ensuring the first half ended goalless.
Omewa Breaks the Deadlock
The breakthrough arrived shortly after the restart as the Falcons emerged with renewed energy and attacking purpose.
In the 48th minute, Shukurat Oladipo delivered a dangerous cross into the penalty area, where Omewa rose highest to power a header beyond the Senegalese goalkeeper and hand Nigeria the lead.
The goal transformed the contest, with the hosts immediately taking control of proceedings.
Oshoala Adds Finishing Touch
Seven minutes later, Omewa struck again to complete an impressive brace. Showing strength, balance and composure, she shrugged off pressure from defenders before calmly slotting home Nigeria’s second goal.
The Super Falcons continued to dominate possession and create chances, eventually putting the game beyond Senegal in the 66th minute.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade led a swift attacking move down the flank before delivering a perfectly weighted pass to substitute Asisat Oshoala. The experienced forward kept her composure and finished neatly to seal a convincing 3-0 victory.
