Waive Defends Oborevwori’s Flyover Projects, Says They Meet Real Traffic Needs

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu’s recent comments on the construction of flyovers were not directed at Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, according to a member of the House of Representatives, Francis Waive.
Waive said suggestions linking the President’s remarks to Delta’s infrastructure projects were misplaced. He maintained that every flyover completed or under construction in the state addresses serious traffic congestion.
He said the projects followed careful planning and responded to genuine transportation needs. According to him, residents can attest to the heavy traffic challenges at the affected locations.
The lawmaker argued that the Federal Government had previously acknowledged Delta State’s achievements in road infrastructure and flyover development. He said the recognition came before similar projects expanded in several other states.
Waive also rejected claims that the Oborevwori administration had focused only on road projects. He said the government continues to invest in healthcare, education, bridges and social welfare alongside infrastructure development.
He described criticisms from opposition politicians as politically motivated. He said such comments ignored the practical benefits the projects have delivered to commuters and businesses.
Waive urged Governor Oborevwori to sustain ongoing infrastructure development. He called for more investments in roads, bridges and flyovers while expanding programmes that improve the welfare of residents.
He also expressed confidence in the governor’s political future. He said the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda complements President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and has continued to attract public support across the state.
