Akwa Ibom Leaders Commit State To God At August Covenant Service
AKWA Ibom State Governor Umo Eno joined members of the State Executive Council and other government officials at the August edition of the Government House Covenant Service in Uyo.
The service took place on Saturday at the Banquet Hall of Government House. It attracted political leaders, public officials and Christian faithful who gathered to pray for the state and its people.
Presiding Bishop of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dr. Samuel Akpan, delivered the sermon. He preached on the theme, “My Shield, My Glory.”
The cleric encouraged Christians to place their trust in Jesus Christ. He said Christ remains a dependable source of protection, strength and hope for those who rely on Him.
During a special prayer session led by Bishop Josephine Eggah, Governor Eno and other worshippers committed Akwa Ibom State into God’s hands. They prayed for peace, security, wisdom and protection for the government and the people.
The gathering also sought divine guidance for the state’s leadership as it continues to implement programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi attended the service. Also present were Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
The monthly covenant service remains one of the administration’s regular faith-based gatherings where government leaders assemble to seek spiritual guidance and pray for the progress, stability and continued development of Akwa Ibom State.
