Oborevwori Mourns Catholic Priest
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Warri and the Christian community over the death of Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Mario Ozele.
Fr. Ozele, aged 60, died in the early hours of Tuesday 15 September 2026, after an illness.
Governor Describes Death as Painful Loss
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori described the priest’s death as a painful loss.
He said the Catholic Church, Fr. Ozele’s parishioners and the people of Delta State would feel the impact of his passing.
Fr. Ozele served as the Episcopal Vicar of the Ughelli Pastoral Region and Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ughelli.
Sympathy for Catholic Community
The governor extended his condolences to the Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, as well as priests, religious leaders and members of the Catholic community.
He urged them to draw strength from the life and service of the late priest.
According to Oborevwori, Fr. Ozele dedicated his life to serving God and humanity.
Message to the Bereaved Family
The governor also sympathised with the immediate family of the deceased priest.
He prayed that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
The condolence message came as the Catholic community in Delta State mourned the passing of a priest who served the Church and his parishioners in Ughelli.
