Nigeria Hurdles Star Claims Third In Competitive US Race

Tabugbo Secures Bronze in High-Intensity Florida Hurdles Final
Strong Showing on International Stage
NIGERIA’S Adaobi Tabugbo delivered another promising performance on the international circuit, finishing third in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Pure Athletics Elite Sprint Meet in Florida. The race featured a strong field of athletes from the Americas and the Caribbean, making the podium finish a notable achievement.
Competitive Race with Tight Margins
Tabugbo clocked 12.93 seconds, aided by a +2.8m/s tailwind, in a tightly contested final where fractions of a second separated the top finishers. The result highlighted just how close the competition was at elite level.
Saint Lucia’s Aasia Laurencin won the race in 12.73 seconds, while Puerto Rico’s Paola Vazquez also recorded 12.93 seconds to claim second place ahead of Tabugbo on placement criteria.
Growing Reputation in Hurdles Circuit
Although wind conditions meant the times were not record-eligible, Tabugbo’s podium finish adds to a growing list of strong performances, reinforcing her emergence as one of Nigeria’s promising sprint hurdlers on the global stage.
