Fatal Attack Stuns Agbor Community

A tragic sense of grief has enveloped Agbor in Delta State following the killing of Mrs. Esther Adaigbe, who was attacked while travelling to attend an early morning Catholic Mass.

Her body was discovered on Monday 13 July 2026, along the Agbor corridor of the Benin–Asaba Expressway after she sustained a fatal stab wound to the neck.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly because it occurred only weeks after the victim celebrated her wedding.

Robbery Theory Appears Unlikely

Initial reports had suggested the possibility of an armed robbery attack. However, information emerging from preliminary investigations has cast doubt on that theory.

The deceased’s motorcycle and mobile phones were reportedly found inside her residence, indicating that the assailants may not have targeted her for material possessions.

The development has heightened speculation over the motive behind the crime, although authorities have yet to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Police Intensify Investigations

The Delta State Police Command confirmed that detectives attached to the Agbor Division have begun investigations into the case.

The police are working to identify those responsible and establish the sequence of events that led to the fatal attack, while urging the public to cooperate with investigators by providing useful information that could assist the inquiry.

Friends and acquaintances remembered Adaigbe as a humble, friendly and industrious young woman whose untimely death has left an irreplaceable void.

The killing has also reignited concerns over public safety for residents travelling during the early hours of the day, especially those heading to places of worship or work.

Community leaders and residents have appealed to security agencies to increase patrols, improve surveillance along major routes and ensure that those responsible for the murder are brought to justice without delay.
