Ibom Air Commences Domestic Operations at New International Terminal in Uyo
Enhanced Passenger Experience as Operations Shift
PASSENGERS traveling through Akwa Ibom State are now set to enjoy improved airport services as Ibom Air has officially commenced domestic flight operations from the newly commissioned International Terminal of the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.
The relocation took effect on 14 June 2026, marking a significant upgrade in the airline’s operational environment and passenger handling capacity.
According to the airline, the move reflects its commitment to delivering world-class services while supporting Akwa Ibom State’s ambition of becoming a major aviation hub in Nigeria.
Modern Facilities at New Terminal
Ibom Air stated that the new terminal is equipped with expanded passenger processing capacity, upgraded check-in and boarding systems, enhanced security infrastructure, and improved passenger comfort facilities.
The airline noted that these upgrades are designed to ensure smoother travel experiences and more efficient operations for passengers and staff alike.
Management Describes Move as Milestone
The Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air described the transition as a major milestone in the airline’s growth and in the broader development of aviation infrastructure in Akwa Ibom State.
He said operating from the new terminal would enhance service delivery, strengthen operational efficiency, and improve connectivity for both business and leisure travellers.
According to him, the development aligns with the airline’s vision of providing seamless, safe and reliable air transport services.

The airline added that the new facility would further position Akwa Ibom as a strategic gateway for investment, tourism and regional economic activities.
It explained that improved aviation infrastructure would support increased passenger traffic and strengthen the state’s competitiveness within Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Fleet and Operations Overview
Ibom Air, wholly owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government, currently operates a fleet of Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft and Airbus A220-300 jets, serving multiple domestic destinations as well as Accra, Ghana.
