Governor Oborevwori Celebrates Badejo-Okusanya, Okoro, Okpomor On NBA Leadership Victory

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the first elected female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a defining moment for the legal profession and a triumph for merit, excellence and gender inclusion.
The governor also extended his congratulations to two distinguished Deltans, Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, following their election into the National Executive Committee of the NBA.
In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori said the outcome of the NBA elections reflected the confidence members of the legal profession have in the capacity, integrity and leadership credentials of the newly elected officers.
Governor Oborevwori said Badejo-Okusanya’s emergence followed a distinguished legal career built on professionalism, integrity and unwavering commitment to justice.
He expressed optimism that her tenure would strengthen the legal profession, promote institutional reforms, deepen the rule of law and expand access to justice across Nigeria.
The governor urged the new NBA President to foster unity within the association following the keenly contested election and work closely with stakeholders to advance judicial reforms, uphold the sanctity of the Constitution and reinforce the legal profession’s contribution to Nigeria’s democratic development.
He also wished her a successful and impactful tenure.
Oborevwori described the election of Chief Oghenero Okoro as First Vice President of the NBA as a well-deserved recognition of his longstanding contributions to the legal profession.
He noted that Okoro, a former Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch, has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership and expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would further strengthen the association at the national level.
The governor said Okoro’s victory remains a source of pride not only for Delta State but also for the wider legal community.
Governor Oborevwori also congratulated Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor on her election as Assistant General Secretary of the NBA.
He observed that her emergence further highlights the growing influence and visibility of Delta legal practitioners in national professional leadership.
Recalling her previous service as Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, the governor commended her dedication to professional development and her commitment to advancing the legal profession.
While wishing all the newly elected NBA national officers a successful tenure, Governor Oborevwori urged them to uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism and service.
He encouraged the new leadership to continue promoting the independence of the judiciary, strengthening the administration of justice and protecting constitutional democracy in Nigeria.
