Children’s Day: Oborevwori Calls For Inclusive Society Where No Child Is Left Behind

Governor Promotes Inclusion on Children’s Day
DELTA State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called for the creation of a more inclusive and supportive society where every child is given equal opportunities to succeed regardless of background, gender or physical condition.
The governor made the appeal during the 2026 National Children’s Day celebration held in Delta State, where he was represented by the Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme.
Addressing children, parents, teachers and stakeholders, the governor said this year’s theme, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” highlights the need to ensure that no child feels neglected, rejected or excluded from opportunities for growth and development.
Focus on Children With Disabilities
Governor Oborevwori stressed the importance of showing compassion, understanding and encouragement to children living with disabilities and special needs.
He commended the efforts of the You Matter Charity Foundation led by Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori for advocating for children with autism and other special needs.
The governor also highlighted the achievement of Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, the teenager who set a Guinness World Record for creating the world’s largest art canvas to raise autism awareness.
According to him, the achievement demonstrates that disability should never be viewed as incapacity.
Government Reaffirms Commitment to Child Welfare
The governor stated that the Delta State Government would continue investing in education, healthcare, security and social welfare programmes aimed at improving the lives of children across the state.
He noted that the administration’s MORE Agenda prioritises policies designed to protect, include and empower children to realise their full potential.
Oborevwori also urged children to remain committed to their education, respect their parents and teachers, and believe in their ability to achieve greatness.
Celebration Marked With Cultural Activities
The Children’s Day celebration featured a march-past by pupils and students from public and private schools as well as the cutting of the anniversary cake.
Stakeholders at the event emphasised the importance of sustaining policies that guarantee equal access to education, healthcare and protection for every Nigerian child.
