Aniagwu: Oborevwori’s Inclusive Governance Model Offers Blueprint For National Unity

Oborevwori’s Governance Model in Focus
DELTA State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has described the governance approach of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a viable model for strengthening national unity and sustainable development in Nigeria.
Aniagwu made the remarks while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the centenary lecture of the Yoruba Tennis Club in Lagos, where the governor delivered a keynote address.
Inclusive Governance as a Policy Framework
According to the commissioner, the Oborevwori administration has prioritised inclusiveness by ensuring representation and participation of diverse ethnic groups within Delta State.
He noted that inclusiveness goes beyond political appointments to include:
- Equitable distribution of infrastructure projects
- Balanced socio-economic investments across regions
- Targeted interventions for vulnerable groups
Aniagwu stressed that this deliberate approach has helped foster a sense of belonging among residents, irrespective of ethnic or social background.
Development Without Exclusion
Highlighting the administration’s development philosophy, Aniagwu said the governor consistently evaluates project distribution to ensure no community is left behind.
He added that particular attention is given to women, the elderly, and other vulnerable populations as part of a broader social inclusion strategy.
“The governor constantly asks which areas are yet to benefit from development projects because every group matters,” he said.
Call for National Policy Reforms
Beyond the state level, Aniagwu revealed that Governor Oborevwori used the lecture platform to advocate for a national conversation on key issues affecting unity.
These include:
- Rotation of the presidency
- Equitable resource distribution
- Institutional frameworks to enforce political agreements
He argued that such discussions must move beyond rhetoric and be backed by enforceable legal structures.
A Model for National Cohesion
Aniagwu maintained that Delta State’s governance model demonstrates how inclusive policies can reduce tensions and strengthen social harmony.
He suggested that replicating similar frameworks across Nigeria could help address longstanding divisions and promote a more unified national identity.
