NBTE Launches Unified Portal To Digitise Polytechnic, Technical Education Management
By MELVIN KOFFA
THE National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has rolled out a unified Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal designed to streamline data management across Nigeria’s polytechnics and technical institutions.
At the inauguration in Kaduna, NBTE Executive Secretary Prof. Idris Bugaje described the platform as a milestone for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), promising greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in institutional administration.
Education Minister Dr. Maruf Alausa, represented by Minister of State Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, directed all institutions to register on the portal by December, stressing that participation is mandatory to ensure standardised and reliable data nationwide.
A technical demonstration highlighted the portal’s features, including secure data handling, seamless registration, and compliance monitoring. While some stakeholders raised concerns over funding and potential operational challenges, NBTE assured institutions of robust data protection and full technical support.
The ERP portal marks a decisive step toward modernising Nigeria’s technical education system and ensuring uniform standards across institutions.
