FUATECH Gets Library Boost As Rep Idem Promises Landmark Project

THE member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, has announced plans to build an ultra-modern library for the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Obio Akpa. He unveiled the initiative while receiving the university’s management during a courtesy visit.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Essien, led the delegation. Other principal officers of the university also attended the meeting. They discussed ways to accelerate the growth and development of the young institution.
Prof. Essien outlined several challenges confronting the university. He appealed for assistance in providing essential infrastructure. He stressed that a modern library and a medical centre are vital to improving academic excellence, research and staff and student welfare.
Idem assured the management that education remains one of his priorities. He said the library project would be his flagship contribution to the university. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the institution’s development.
The lawmaker also pledged to facilitate additional projects through federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies. He said improved infrastructure would position the university for sustainable growth and greater national relevance.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the law establishing the university. He also commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his role in securing legislative approval for the institution.
Idem praised Governor Umo Eno for supporting the university’s take-off. He noted that the release of the Obio Akpa Campus by the Akwa Ibom State Government demonstrated a strong commitment to educational development.
He congratulated Prof. Essien on becoming the pioneer Vice Chancellor. He expressed confidence that the university would emerge as a centre of excellence in agriculture, technology, innovation and scientific research. He pledged to continue working with the university’s leadership to help transform FUATECH into a world-class institution.
