Akwa Ibom Prepares 39 Project Commissioning For Tinubu

Akwa Ibom Gears Up for Presidential Visit
THE Akwa Ibom State Executive Council has announced plans to commission 39 major projects during the scheduled visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The event will coincide with activities marking the 39th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State.
The resolution followed the council’s meeting and outlined measures to ensure the successful hosting of the President.
Relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies have been directed to coordinate logistics and preparations for the visit.
Key Development Projects for Inauguration
Among the projects listed for commissioning are the New Terminal Building, Airport Hospital, Aviation Village, the Nsit Atai–Okobo Road, Ring Road 3 Dualisation, the Command and Control Centre, AkwaGIS, the State Secretariat Annex and the ARISE Palm Resort.
The government said the projects reflect ongoing investments in infrastructure, transportation, digital governance and economic development.
Healthcare Expansion Receives Fresh Boost
Council reviewed recent achievements in the health sector and approved additional measures to improve medical services.
It disclosed that over 2,854 health workers have already been recruited across the state.
The government also reported the completion of 29 Model Primary Healthcare Centres and the ongoing upgrade of 17 more facilities.
Four secondary healthcare institutions are equally undergoing rehabilitation.
To strengthen specialist care, the state has procured three CT Scan machines and two MRI machines, while expecting three additional CT scanners.
Council directed that bureaucratic delays be removed to speed up the recruitment of more medical doctors.
It also approved the forwarding of nine health sector bills to the State House of Assembly for legislative action.
Empowerment Programme Targets Over 165,000 Beneficiaries
The Executive Council approved a ₦31 billion economic empowerment programme designed to stimulate entrepreneurship and reduce poverty across the state.
The initiative provides ₦1 billion for each of the 31 local government areas.
It will support youths, women, farmers, traders, transport operators and SMEs through grants, vocational training, farm inputs, enterprise support and transport schemes.
Government said the programme is expected to benefit 165,912 residents and expand opportunities for job creation and business growth.
A committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government will supervise implementation and develop the operational framework.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to delivering development programmes that improve living standards while urging residents to continue supporting the administration’s development agenda.
