400 Ngbilebiri II Residents Benefit from Councillors’ ₦50,000 Empowerment Scheme
400 Residents Receive Financial Support
AT least 400 residents of Ngbilebiri II Ward 8 in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have received ₦50,000 each under an empowerment scheme facilitated by their elected councillors.
The initiative, coordinated by Hon. Kpemusiobe Adama and Hon. Clement Wagha, aims to strengthen small businesses and support vulnerable members of the community.
Through the intervention, each beneficiary received financial assistance to improve their livelihood and address immediate economic needs. The organisers also presented the scheme as part of efforts to bring government support closer to residents at the grassroots.
Councillors Promise More Opportunities
Speaking at the event, the two councillors explained that the initiative responded to the challenges facing residents who struggle to sustain their businesses and meet their daily needs.
They expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government for supporting the empowerment programme. Moreover, they pledged to pursue additional opportunities that could improve the economic well-being of their constituents.
The event attracted All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders, alongside community and youth leaders and party supporters.
Commissioner Calls for Political Support
Commissioner for Riverine and Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, commended the councillors for ensuring that the intervention reached its intended beneficiaries.
He described the exercise as a practical demonstration of grassroots engagement and support for local livelihoods.
However, Clark also used the occasion to urge residents to support President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for second terms. He argued that their re-election would allow both administrations to consolidate their achievements and deliver more development programmes.
According to him, Oborevwori has consistently acknowledged the President’s role in creating an enabling environment for development projects and government programmes in Delta State.
Clark said the governor did not want to claim sole credit for the state’s achievements. He therefore urged residents to support both leaders.
“I won’t lead you astray or deceive you because the facts are clear. The governor is saying today that if you love me, love Tinubu, because that is the man making it possible for him to do what he is doing for Deltans.
“He doesn’t want to take the glory to himself alone. So, give the governor a second chance and give the President his second chance. I believe much more will come to our country, our state and our community,” he said.
Beneficiaries Welcome the Intervention
Representing the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Hon. Julius Takeme, the Secretary to the Council, Roland Ombe, also praised the initiative.
He highlighted the importance of providing financial assistance directly to residents at the community level.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organisers, saying the ₦50,000 grants would help them replenish their stocks, expand their businesses and provide better support for their families.
Overall, the exercise underscored the potential role of elected councillors in connecting government interventions with the everyday needs of residents.
