Nigeria Defeats Angola To Claim Bronze At African U20 Handball Championship

NIGERIA’S U20 men’s handball team has won the bronze medal at the 2026 African U20 Men’s Handball Championship in Ivory Coast.

The Nigerian youngsters defeated Angola 24–19 in the third-place match on Saturday, September 12.

Nigeria produced a determined display to secure the victory and finish third in the continental competition.

The result capped a strong campaign for the young team in Ivory Coast.

By beating Angola, Nigeria also added another medal to its growing record in African youth handball.

The bronze finish underlines the country’s continued presence on the continental stage and gives the young players valuable international experience.

Nigeria will now look to build on the performance as the country continues to develop its next generation of handball talents.
