Oborevwori Administration Showcases Delta’s Investment Potential, Targets Industrial Growth

Economic Summit to Showcase Delta’s Investment Opportunities
THE Delta State Government has outlined an ambitious economic transformation agenda centred on infrastructure, energy, maritime development and industrial expansion as it prepares to host the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba.
Speaking ahead of the three-day summit, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, said the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has invested significantly in creating an investor-friendly environment capable of attracting domestic and international capital.
He described the summit as an opportunity to present Delta’s economic strengths and deepen partnerships that can drive sustainable development.
Roads, Bridges and Power Strengthen Investment Climate
Emu said infrastructure development has remained a cornerstone of the state’s economic policy.
According to him, more than 2,600 kilometres of roads and over 20 bridges have been completed or rehabilitated, improving transportation, reducing logistics costs and enhancing access to markets across the state.
He explained that these projects have positioned Delta as one of Nigeria’s most accessible locations for manufacturing, commerce and agribusiness.
The SSG also highlighted the state’s independent electricity infrastructure, which currently supplies about 8.5 megawatts to public institutions, while reforms are underway to expand power availability for industrial users.
Special Economic Zone Designed for Industrial Expansion
The Delta Special Economic Zone was presented as a major attraction for investors seeking reliable energy and efficient operating conditions.
Emu said the zone enjoys strategic access to the OB-3 gas pipeline, enabling industries to benefit from lower energy costs compared with many parts of the country.
He noted that affordable and dependable electricity remains one of the strongest incentives available to manufacturers considering investment in Delta State.
Blue Economy, Mining and Agriculture Offer Diverse Prospects
Beyond manufacturing, Emu said Delta’s geographical location provides enormous opportunities within the blue economy.
He identified commercial fishing, aquaculture, seafood processing, marine logistics and fish-feed production as sectors with substantial investment potential.
He also pointed to the state’s abundant deposits of coal, lignite, kaolin and silica, describing them as valuable resources capable of supporting mining, cement production, manufacturing and future energy projects.
According to him, these resources position Delta for broader economic diversification beyond crude oil production.
Foreign Investment Engagements Gather Momentum
The SSG revealed that the state government has actively engaged investors in Brazil, China and other strategic markets over the past three years.
He disclosed that discussions with Brazilian businesses have already yielded encouraging outcomes, while Chinese investors have also indicated strong interest in exploring opportunities across various sectors.
To support investment promotion, the government has prepared comprehensive investment guides and established a dedicated digital platform to facilitate investor engagement.
Government Seeks Long-Term Economic Partnerships
Emu expressed confidence that the forthcoming summit would serve as a catalyst for increased investment, industrial development and export growth.
He stressed that Delta already possesses the infrastructure, connectivity, natural resources and policy stability needed to support large-scale investment.
“The opportunities are enormous. We have the resources, the infrastructure, the connectivity and the political will. What we seek now is partnership with investors who are ready to grow with Delta,” he said.
He added that the administration remains committed to creating a competitive business environment capable of generating jobs, boosting productivity and strengthening Delta State’s position as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing investment destinations.
