Delta Government’s Security Investments Earn Police Commendation as Stakeholders Strengthen Partnership

Police Command, Security Trust Fund Review Collaboration on Crime Prevention

THE Delta State Police Command has credited sustained investments by the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori with improving policing capacity and strengthening public safety, as security stakeholders pledged to deepen collaboration against crime across the state.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF) to the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba, where discussions centred on expanding institutional support for security agencies.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, alongside members of the Board and the Executive Secretary, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa.

Security Infrastructure Enhancing Operational Capacity

Receiving the delegation, Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi described the Delta State Government’s consistent investment in security as a major contributor to improved policing and operational effectiveness.

He disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police had expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for strengthening law enforcement through sustained investment in logistics, infrastructure and operational support.

The Police Commissioner observed that improved facilities and equipment have enhanced intelligence gathering and boosted the command’s ability to combat crime more efficiently.

Technology & Intelligence at the Centre of Modern Policing

Among the projects highlighted during the meeting were the newly provided modern interrogation room and advanced data room facilitated by the Delta State Security Trust Fund.

According to Oyeniyi, the facilities represent significant improvements in investigative capability, intelligence management and evidence-based policing.

He stressed that the increasing complexity of contemporary security challenges requires continued investment in technology, data management and specialised operational infrastructure.

Police Outline Priority Areas for Further Support

While acknowledging existing support, the Commissioner identified several areas requiring additional attention to sustain the command’s operational efficiency.

These include regular maintenance of patrol vehicles, procurement of modern technological equipment, expansion of community policing initiatives and increased use of digital communication platforms to improve public engagement.

He maintained that these interventions would further strengthen the command’s ability to prevent crime and respond rapidly to security incidents.

Trust Fund Restates Support for Security Agencies

Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, reaffirmed the Board’s determination to continue supporting security agencies through targeted investments that improve operational effectiveness and institutional capacity.

Executive Secretary Samuel Osasa also reiterated the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s security architecture through strategic interventions and sustained collaboration with security agencies.

He assured the Police Command that the Trust Fund would continue deploying available resources to projects capable of improving policing outcomes across the state.

Shared Commitment to Public Safety

Both organisations concluded the engagement by reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in intelligence gathering, crime prevention and public safety.

They expressed confidence that continued collaboration between government, the Security Trust Fund and the Nigeria Police Force would further enhance security, reinforce public confidence and support sustainable peace across Delta State.
