IPGDM Emerges In Delta, Seeks Government Attention For Ijaw Development Needs

Community-Led Push for Development
THE Ijaw Political Grassroot Development Movement has been launched as a socio-political platform aimed at addressing perceived developmental neglect in Ijaw communities in Delta State.
The group says it will serve as a structured voice for advocacy and engagement with government at all levels.
Concerns Over Uneven Development
Chairman of the movement, Mulade Sheriff, said the initiative was motivated by what he described as persistent underdevelopment in Ijaw areas, despite their economic importance to the state.
He argued that many communities still lack adequate infrastructure and essential public services.
Strategy Focused on Engagement
Rather than confrontation, the group said it will prioritise dialogue and collaboration with relevant authorities to influence development outcomes.
It added that constructive engagement would be central to its strategy for achieving long-term improvements.
Call for Collective Responsibility
The movement urged unity among Ijaw stakeholders, calling on community members to support the advocacy effort.
According to the leadership, broad participation will be necessary to sustain pressure for development and ensure meaningful results over time.
