Delta APC Elects Arenyeka Chairman, Oborevwori Sets Sights On 2027 Sweep

Arenyeka Emerges by Consensus
THE Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected Chief Solomon Arenyeka as its new State Chairman, signaling the start of a renewed push toward the 2027 general elections.
Arenyeka emerged through consensus at the party’s State Congress held at the Cenotaph in Asaba. His emergence was part of a broader affirmation of a new State Working Committee (SWC), also elected by consensus in what party leaders described as a transparent and consultative process.
Elder Moses Iduh was elected Deputy Chairman, while Chief Efe Uko assumed the role of State Secretary. Other key positions were also filled, including Chief Paulinus Akpeki (Delta Central Chairman), Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba (Delta South Chairman), Engr. Daniel Ossai (Delta North Chairman), Elder Emmanuel Egbabor (State Organising Secretary), Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo (State Publicity Secretary), Mrs. Ifeyinwa Sobotie (State Woman Leader), and Christopher Agali (State Youth Leader).
Chairman of the State Congress Electoral Committee, Engr. Vita Abba, declared the executives duly elected after their affirmation by delegates, noting that the exercise complied fully with party guidelines.
Orderly Transition and Dissolution of Old EXCO
Before the election, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, moved a motion for the dissolution of the outgoing State Working Committee. The motion, seconded by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, was unanimously adopted by delegates, paving the way for the new leadership.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori commended the outgoing executive led by Elder Omeni Sobotie for steering the party through what he called a “defining transition period” following the political realignment of April 2025.
Oborevwori Charges Party on 2027
Addressing party faithful, the governor expressed optimism about the APC’s future in Delta State and aligned the party’s progress with the broader national vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“What began as a principled decision to align Delta State with the renewed vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has evolved into a powerful and unstoppable political movement,” Oborevwori said.
He praised the peaceful conduct of congresses across the state’s 270 wards and 25 local government areas, describing it as proof of the APC’s commitment to internal democracy.
“There was no imposition. What we witnessed is broad consultation, agreement and inclusiveness. This structure belongs to all of us,” he declared.
The governor charged the new executive to prioritise regular meetings, grassroots mobilisation and strategic voter engagement in preparation for the 2027 polls.
“Our mission is unequivocal. We must secure victory at every level — the Presidency, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Governorship and the State House of Assembly,” he stated confidently.
New Chairman Pledges Commitment
In his acceptance speech, Chief Solomon Arenyeka thanked party leaders and members for their trust and pledged to lead with integrity and teamwork.
“I am fully aware of the weight of this responsibility and do not take it lightly. We pledge to justify the confidence reposed in us,” he said.
Arenyeka assured members that the new leadership would uphold transparency, hard work and consensus-building. He also promised that under his watch, Delta APC would become a model for other states.
“We have heard the marching orders from our leader. By God’s grace, we shall deliver all APC candidates in the 2027 elections,” he affirmed.
The congress ended on a celebratory note, marking the formal inauguration of a new leadership poised to steer the Delta APC into the next electoral cycle.
