APGA Clears Chairmanship Hopefuls for Anambra LG Primaries
THE All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released the list of aspirants cleared to contest its chairmanship primaries ahead of the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State.
The list, unveiled on Sunday at the party’s state secretariat in Awka, features aspirants from all 21 local government areas who successfully passed the party’s screening process. The clearance, according to a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, followed the completion of required documentation and verification in line with established party guidelines.
APGA stated that the screening exercise was thorough and designed to ensure that only qualified and credible aspirants participate in the primaries. The party emphasized that all those cleared met the constitutional and administrative conditions set for the forthcoming internal contest.
Among those cleared are Kingsley Ezeagu (Aguata), Ifeanyi Chinweze (Anambra East), Tony Obierika (Anambra West), Paulinus Okafor (Anaocha), ThankGod Anago (Awka North), and Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), alongside other aspirants across the remaining councils.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, APGA urged party faithful to uphold unity and discipline throughout the primary process. The party stressed that transparent and credible primaries remain central to its preparations for the polls.
The Anambra local government elections are scheduled for 29 August 2026, with political activities gradually intensifying as parties finalize their strategies and candidates for the grassroots contest.
