Zambia Hosts WAFCON Prep Tournament Ahead Of Super Falcons Clash

Zambia Organises WAFCON Preparations Ahead of Nigeria Clash
ZAMBIA’S Football Association has confirmed plans to host a preparatory mini-tournament in Lusaka as part of its build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Zambian women’s national team, the Shepolopolo, have been drawn in a competitive group alongside Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Egypt, and Malawi, making early preparation crucial.
Competitive Build-Up in Lusaka
The mini-tournament is scheduled for June 6 to June 9, 2026, and will feature Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Burkina Faso as invited participants.
Officials say the competition is designed to enhance tactical cohesion, match sharpness, and overall team fitness ahead of the continental championship.
Focus on Group Readiness
Zambia are expected to use the tournament to fine-tune their squad and strengthen their chances in what is widely seen as one of the toughest groups at WAFCON 2026.
With the Super Falcons also in the group, the preparations set the stage for a high-intensity group phase in Morocco.
