Roadside Stop Turns Fatal As Truck Crushes Brothers In Delta

A routine stop for palm wine and bush meat ended in tragedy after a tipper truck reportedly crushed two brothers to death in Kiagbodo, Delta State.

The brothers had earlier visited the site of an ongoing electrification project at the Technical College in the town.

Reports indicated that one of them had won the contract for the project and brought his sibling to assist with the work.

Following the inspection, the two men reportedly stopped at a roadside palm wine and bush meat joint along the Erhuwaren highway.

Their break, however, ended suddenly when a sand-laden tipper reportedly veered off the road and rammed into the restaurant area.

The crash sent shockwaves through the community as residents and other customers looked on in disbelief.

According to an eyewitness, the force of the impact left the victims critically injured.

They were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Ovwian, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths.

Police authorities in Delta State have confirmed the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said information surrounding the identities of the victims and other circumstances of the crash was still emerging.

The tragedy has also affected activities around the roadside joint, which residents said was usually busy with customers.

Since the fatal incident, the area has reportedly remained unusually quiet as the community comes to terms with the sudden loss of the two brothers.
