Promotion Alert: Delta Civil Service Commission Releases Exam Timetable, Requirements

Promotion Exercise Set for October
THE Delta State Civil Service Commission has announced dates for the compulsory Refresher Course and Promotion Examination for eligible civil servants on Salary Grade Levels 05, 06, 09 and 10.
The exercise is scheduled for Friday, October 2, and Saturday 3 October 2026, at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.
According to a special government announcement signed by the Permanent Secretary/Director of Public Communication, Mrs. Stella Macaulay, the exercise is mandatory for officers due for promotion.
The Commission stressed that passing the promotion examination remains an essential requirement for career advancement among affected officers across ministries, departments and agencies.
Refresher Course for Eligible Officers
The compulsory Refresher Course will take place on Friday 2 October, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It is intended for officers on Salary Grade Levels 05, 06, 09 and 10.
Both the refresher course and the promotion examinations will hold at the TETFUND 1,000 Capacity Hall of Dennis Osadebay University.
The Commission advised eligible officers to take note of the venue and schedule ahead of the exercise.
Examination Schedule
The Promotion Examination will hold on Saturday 3 October, with different examination times for the affected grade levels.
Officers on GL 09 and GL 10 are scheduled to write the examination from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Those on GL 05 and GL 06 will sit for their examination from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Commission said the examination is a prerequisite for promotion for officers covered by the exercise.
Documents Required for Accreditation
Eligible officers must also complete the required accreditation process before entering the examination hall.
They are expected to present photocopies of their Letter of First Appointment and Letter of Last Promotion.
They must also present their original Staff Identity Card.
The Commission said only officers whose particulars have been officially compiled and submitted by their respective ministries, departments and agencies will be accredited.
MDAs Must Complete Clearance
The Commission further warned that officers from defaulting MDAs could be excluded from the exercise.
Such ministries, extra-ministerial departments and agencies must submit the required promotion briefs, Personnel Management Committee meeting minutes and clearance from the Office of the Head of Service.
Where the required documents have not been submitted, affected officers will not be allowed to participate in either the Refresher Course or the Promotion Examination.
Officers Urged to Verify Their Status
The Commission advised affected civil servants to contact their respective departmental administrative heads before the examination dates.
Officers are expected to confirm that their particulars have been submitted and that all necessary clearance requirements have been met.
With the exercise scheduled for early October, the Commission’s notice provides eligible officers with the dates, examination times, accreditation requirements and administrative conditions they must satisfy before participating.
