Police Raid Owa-Abbi Hideout, Arrest 56-Year-Old Suspect, Recover 21 Bags Of Drugs

THE Delta State Police Command has arrested a 56-year-old man and recovered 21 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp in Owa-Abbi, Ukwuani Local Government Area.
Operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) carried out the operation on Saturday 8 August, following credible intelligence.
The team raided a suspected criminal hideout in the community and arrested Lucky Oyiboka.
Police said a search of the premises led to the recovery of the suspected illicit drugs.
Preliminary investigation indicated that Oyiboka was allegedly involved in the distribution of illicit drugs.
The police have intensified investigation to establish the extent of the suspected drug network. Investigators are also working to identify other persons allegedly linked to the operation.
The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded, according to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.
The operation forms part of the Delta Police Command’s ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities and the distribution of illicit drugs across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, said the Command would sustain intelligence-led operations against criminal networks.
He also urged residents to provide credible and timely information that could assist the police in preventing and solving crimes.
The Command assured members of the public that information supplied by informants would be treated confidentially.
