Oshiomhole Refutes Alleged Attack On Oborevwori Over APC Primary

Oshiomhole Rejects Viral Statement
FORMER Edo State governor and senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has distanced himself from a statement circulating on social media regarding the APC primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District.
The statement, which alleged that Oshiomhole accused Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of participating in a plot against the emergence of an Urhobo Senate President, was described as entirely false and misleading.
According to a clarification issued on his behalf, the senator did not make any comments concerning the APC primary election in Delta Central and should not be linked to opinions expressed by others on the matter.
Respect for Urhobo Political Leadership
The statement noted that Oshiomhole is well acquainted with key political figures from Delta Central, including Senator Ede Dafinone, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege.
It emphasized that all three are respected sons of Urhobo land and that the Urhobo people possess the political awareness and maturity to determine their own representatives without external influence.
The clarification further stressed that Oshiomhole recognizes and respects the democratic choices of the people in the district.
Congratulatory Call After APC Primary
The statement disclosed that following the successful conduct of the APC primary elections, Oshiomhole personally contacted Governor Oborevwori to congratulate him on the peaceful and orderly exercise.
Similar congratulatory messages, it added, were extended to other governors across the South-South region as part of efforts to encourage peaceful democratic processes.
Appeal for Responsible Public Discourse
Oshiomhole’s camp urged bloggers, commentators and social media users to verify information before attributing statements to public figures.
The statement warned against the spread of misinformation, noting that individuals dissatisfied with the outcome of political contests should express their views openly rather than falsely attributing them to others.
It reaffirmed Oshiomhole’s commitment to democratic principles, particularly the belief in “One Man, One Vote” and the right of citizens to freely choose their representatives.
