Oshimili South Legislative Leader Backs Youth Inclusion, Ward-Level Political Engagement
Okonji Hosts Delta North Youth Leaders, Pushes Stronger Grassroots Mobilisation
THE Leader of the Legislative Arm of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Hon. Michael Mikky Okonji, has hosted members of the Delta North College of Youth from the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, with a call for stronger grassroots engagement and youth participation in politics.
The meeting, held at the Oshimili South Legislative Chambers, brought together legislative leaders and youth representatives from across the constituency.
Discussions focused on strengthening the organisation’s structure and extending its activities to the ward level. Participants also examined ways to improve grassroots mobilisation and deepen communication between political leaders and communities.
Okonji stressed the importance of taking government policies, programmes and achievements directly to the people. He noted that effective grassroots engagement remains critical to ensuring that residents understand the direction and priorities of the administration.
The meeting also placed emphasis on youth participation in political organisation and community development. Participants agreed that young people must play a more active role in building sustainable political structures within the constituency.
Okonji reaffirmed the commitment of the legislative leadership to initiatives that promote unity, inclusion and development. He also encouraged continued cooperation among youth leaders and political stakeholders across Aniocha/Oshimili.
The engagement reflects a broader effort to strengthen political structures from the grassroots and create greater opportunities for young people to participate in community and political affairs.
The organisers said sustained collaboration would remain important to building a stronger and more people-oriented political structure in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and Delta State.
