Oborevwori Hails Oyebanji’s Historic Re-Election Victory In Ekiti

Historic Mandate from the Electorate
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his historic re-election victory, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of effective leadership and people-focused governance.
In a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori said the overwhelming support received by Oyebanji in the 2026 governorship election reflected the confidence Ekiti residents have in his administration and its development agenda.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate winner after he secured 319,224 votes in the election.
Breaking a Longstanding Political Pattern
Oborevwori noted that Oyebanji’s victory carried special significance because it marked the first time since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999 that a sitting governor in Ekiti State had successfully secured a consecutive second term.
According to him, the achievement represents a watershed moment in the state’s political history and demonstrates broad public approval of the governor’s performance in office.
He observed that the result also highlighted the electorate’s willingness to reward administrations that prioritize development, inclusiveness and political stability.
Confidence in a Stronger Second Term
The Delta governor commended the level of unity within the APC in Ekiti State, noting that collaboration among party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots supporters played a key role in delivering victory across all 16 local government areas.
“Your re-election is a clear endorsement of your administration’s achievements and your commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Ekiti State,” Oborevwori stated.
He expressed optimism that Oyebanji’s second term would consolidate ongoing projects, deepen reforms and accelerate socio-economic growth across the state.
Oborevwori also wished the Ekiti governor good health, wisdom and continued success as he prepares to begin another four-year tenure.
