Oborevwori Gifts Delta NUJ 18-Seater Bus, Reaffirms Media Partnership

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has presented a brand-new 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council.
The vehicle is expected to improve the mobility and operational capacity of journalists across the state.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, presented the bus to the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, in Asaba.
Ahon said the gesture reflected the strong relationship between the Delta State Government and the media.
He described journalists as important partners in public enlightenment, accountability and development.
According to him, the bus will support the union and journalists during official assignments across the state.
“On behalf of His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, I have the honour of presenting this brand-new bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council,” Ahon said.
He expressed confidence that the intervention would deepen cooperation between the government and the NUJ.
Ahon added that stronger media-government engagement would benefit Delta residents through improved public communication and greater awareness of government programmes.
Receiving the vehicle, Oyowe thanked Oborevwori for the gesture.
He described the intervention as evidence of a government willing to support institutions through concrete action.
The NUJ chairman said the bus would significantly improve journalists’ ability to perform their professional duties.
“We want to say a very big thank you to His Excellency for this gesture. We do not take it for granted,” Oyowe said.
He also commended Ahon, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, and Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, for helping to actualise the intervention.
Oyowe further acknowledged the governor’s ongoing provision of solar power for the NUJ Secretariat in Asaba.
He said the support demonstrated the administration’s recognition of the media’s role in the state’s development.
The NUJ chairman urged the governor to remain focused on his development agenda.
He assured the administration of the union’s appreciation and support for initiatives aimed at advancing Delta State.
Oyowe also expressed hope that Oborevwori’s tenure would leave a lasting development legacy.
The presentation reinforces the importance of sustained engagement between government and the media.
It also provides journalists with additional logistical support to cover events, policies and development projects across Delta State.
