Oborevwori Pays Tribute to Okowa at 67
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, on the occasion of his 67th birthday, describing him as a seasoned statesman whose years of public service have left a lasting imprint on the development of Delta State and the nation.
In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor joined members of Okowa’s family, political associates, friends and numerous well-wishers in celebrating the former governor’s life, leadership and enduring contributions to governance.
Oborevwori said Okowa’s political career reflects decades of commitment, resilience and dedication, noting that his steady rise through various public offices underscores his experience and capacity for leadership.
A Career Built on Grassroots Leadership
The governor highlighted Okowa’s extensive public service record, recalling that he began his political journey as Secretary of the defunct Ika Local Government Council before becoming the pioneer Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Council.
He later served as Commissioner, Secretary to the Delta State Government, Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, and eventually Governor of Delta State for two consecutive terms.
According to Oborevwori, the former governor’s progression through these offices demonstrated a consistent commitment to public service and a deep understanding of governance.
He noted that Okowa’s experience at both state and national levels positioned him among Delta’s most influential political leaders.
Recognising a Lasting Development Legacy
The governor stated that Okowa’s administration recorded notable interventions across several strategic sectors, adding that the developmental strides achieved during his eight-year tenure continue to provide a foundation for ongoing progress in the state.
