Nigeria Crash To Sixth In Africa As Super Eagles Drop To 30th

By FRED LONGJOHN OBEH
NIGERIA have slipped four places to 30th in the latest FIFA World Ranking, losing further ground among Africa’s leading football nations.
The Super Eagles previously occupied 26th position in the world.
Their continental ranking has also taken a hit, with Nigeria moving from third to sixth in Africa.
The latest change follows contrasting results in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Nigeria started the recent sequence with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar.
However, the momentum quickly faded as Guinea-Bissau secured a convincing 3-0 victory over the Super Eagles.
That result contributed to Nigeria’s drop in the latest ranking.
Morocco continue to lead the African standings.
Senegal follow in second place, while Egypt, Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire occupy the next three positions.
Nigeria now sit sixth, ahead of DR Congo, Cameroon, Mali and South Africa.
The latest ranking highlights the impact of Nigeria’s recent results as the Super Eagles continue their preparations and competitive campaign ahead of major continental assignments.
