‘Leadership Must Rest On Prayer,’ Cleric Tells Akwa Ibom Leaders At Summit
Governor Marks New Administrative Milestone with Spiritual Gathering
GOVERNOR Umo Eno has commenced the fourth year of his administration with a three-day prayer summit aimed at seeking divine guidance for governance and the continued development of Akwa Ibom State.
The summit, which opened on 1st June, brought together government officials, religious leaders, and worshippers in what organizers described as a period of reflection, intercession, and thanksgiving for the state and its leadership.
The event highlights the governor’s continued emphasis on faith-based engagement as part of his administration’s approach to leadership and public service.
Cleric Emphasises Prayer as Foundation of Leadership
Delivering the keynote message on the opening day, Simeon Afolabi stressed that positions of authority can only be sustained through consistent prayer and dependence on God.
Drawing from biblical teachings, the cleric argued that leadership structures remain vulnerable when disconnected from spiritual guidance.
He cited scriptural passages emphasizing that human effort alone cannot guarantee success in governance, security, or administration without divine support.
According to him, leaders who acknowledge God and continually seek His direction are better positioned to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
Theme Focuses on Divine Intervention and Purpose
Speaking on the summit theme, “The God of Awesome Wonders,” drawn from the biblical book of Joshua, Rev. Afolabi encouraged participants to pursue a deeper understanding of God’s ways.
He maintained that genuine spiritual growth begins with obedience and alignment with divine principles, adding that extraordinary outcomes often emerge from consistent faith and discipline rather than personal ambition.
The cleric noted that those who understand and follow God’s ways do not need to struggle excessively for breakthroughs, as their lives naturally reflect divine favour and direction.
Commendation for Governor’s Faith-Based Approach
Rev. Afolabi also commended Governor Eno for publicly acknowledging God in the affairs of government and maintaining what he described as a visible commitment to spiritual values.
He observed that leaders who prioritize prayer and moral responsibility often inspire greater confidence among citizens and contribute to social stability.
The cleric encouraged the governor and members of his administration to remain steadfast in their commitment to service while continuing to seek divine wisdom in decision-making.
Pastors Highlight the Place of Wonders in Public Life
Earlier, the Presiding Pastor of All Nations Christian Ministry International, Ndaeyo Udomfuk, delivered an opening charge focused on the nature of divine wonders.
According to him, wonders remain possible because they originate from God and often transcend conventional expectations.
He urged participants to approach the summit with faith and anticipation, expressing confidence that spiritual renewal could positively influence both personal lives and public institutions.
Summit Continues Amid Calls for Spiritual Leadership
The prayer summit is expected to continue through 3rd June, providing additional sessions dedicated to worship, prayer, and reflections on leadership and governance.
