France & Venezuela Await As Morocco Prepare For Nigeria’s Super Falcons

By AUGUSTUS ISICHEI
MOROCCO’S women’s national team will face Venezuela and France in December as the Atlas Lionesses step up preparations for a demanding international year. The friendlies will also help the North African side prepare for a potential Olympic qualifying clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed that Morocco will play Venezuela on 1st December before taking on France four days later. However, officials have yet to announce the venue and kick-off time for the Venezuela encounter.
Meanwhile, the match against France will take place at Stade Auguste-Bonal in Sochaux on 5 December, with kick-off scheduled for 9:10 p.m. local time.
The two fixtures will give newly appointed head coach Eric Blahic an opportunity to assess his squad against opponents with contrasting styles. While Venezuela will provide a test against South American opposition, France will offer a tougher examination against one of Europe’s established women’s football teams.
Consequently, Blahic could use the games to test tactical formations, assess squad depth and identify weaknesses before competitive fixtures resume.
Morocco are preparing for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, scheduled for 24 June to 25 July. In addition, the Atlas Lionesses are expected to face Nigeria in a two-legged qualifier for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, with the first meeting anticipated in March 2027.
That potential encounter raises the stakes for Morocco’s preparations. Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain a major force in African women’s football, so the contest could provide a significant test for both teams as they pursue Olympic qualification.
Ultimately, the December friendlies offer Morocco valuable preparation time. With the World Cup and Olympic qualifiers approaching, the team will hope to improve its organisation, strengthen competition for places and build momentum ahead of a demanding 2027 campaign.
