DESOPADEC Explains Rationale Behind Ultra-Modern Police Station In Aboh

Commission says project is aimed at strengthening law enforcement presence and improving safety in Ndokwa East communities.
THE Managing Director of DESOPADEC, Festus Ochonogor, has said the newly constructed ultra-modern police station in Aboh was established to improve security and enhance access to police services for residents.
Chief Ochonogor spoke shortly after the facility was commissioned by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that the project was designed to bring law enforcement closer to the people and improve response to security challenges within the area.
According to him, the police station is expected to strengthen peace and stability in the community by ensuring faster response times and improving the operational efficiency of security agencies.
Modern Security Infrastructure
Chief Ochonogor disclosed that the facility was fully equipped with administrative offices, an armoury and residential quarters for police officers, describing the project as part of efforts to provide a conducive environment for effective policing.
He explained that adequate security remains essential for sustainable development, stressing that communities cannot experience meaningful economic progress without peace and stability.
The DESOPADEC boss further stated that the presence of a modern police facility would encourage commercial activities and create greater confidence among residents and investors in Aboh and neighbouring communities.
Commitment to Oil-Producing Communities
Chief Ochonogor also commended the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for sustaining infrastructure development projects across oil-producing areas of the state.
He described the investments as critical interventions aimed at improving living conditions and strengthening social infrastructure within DESOPADEC mandate communities.
Also speaking, the member representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC Board, Charles Olisa, described the project as a significant milestone for the Ndokwa nation.
Dr. Olisa said the police station reflects DESOPADEC’s commitment to opening up rural communities through strategic infrastructure capable of improving security and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
He further praised Governor Oborevwori for prioritising developmental projects in oil-bearing communities through what he described as legacy infrastructure investments.
