THE Delta State Government has announced three designated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling facilities in Asaba and Warri as part of efforts to promote cleaner and more affordable transportation.
The initiative targets commercial drivers, transport operators and private vehicle owners. Consequently, the government is encouraging motorists to consider switching from petrol and diesel to CNG.
According to the announcement, the alternative fuel could significantly reduce daily vehicle operating expenses. In addition, it could help lower carbon emissions and improve environmental conditions.
The designated facilities include the NIPCO CNG Station at Niger Cat Junction, Warri, and another NIPCO outlet along Summit Road, Asaba, beside Shoprite and near the Ministry of Works.
Meanwhile, Matrix operates another CNG refuelling station at Aziza Junction, Warri.
Through the initiative, the government aims to modernise the state’s transportation sector and reduce the cost of operating vehicles. Furthermore, it hopes that lower operating expenses will help ease pressure on transport fares and commuters.
The programme also forms part of broader efforts to promote cleaner energy solutions and protect public health. Therefore, the government is urging motorists and transport operators to take advantage of the available facilities as Delta advances its alternative-fuel agenda.
