Cyber Fraud Ring Targeting 2026 UTME Busted In Delta State

Authorities launch investigations into additional centres as JAMB withdraws results from affected examination locations.
THE Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, has uncovered and dismantled a sophisticated examination malpractice syndicate allegedly involved in technology-driven fraud during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Delta State.
The operation was carried out at the College of Education, Warri following intelligence reports indicating attempts to compromise the integrity of the nationwide examination through unauthorized digital access and cyber-assisted manipulation.
Remote Access Fraud Uncovered
According to preliminary investigations, unauthorized remote access was allegedly gained into candidates’ computer systems while the examination was in progress.
Security operatives, acting on credible intelligence and digital forensic analysis, launched coordinated operations that led to the arrest of three suspects believed to be linked to the criminal network.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and are assisting investigators with efforts to uncover the full scope of the operation and identify additional collaborators.
Officials further disclosed that more examination centres are currently under investigation for similar activities connected to cyber-enabled examination malpractice.
JAMB Withdraws Results
As part of immediate measures taken following the discovery, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board announced the withdrawal of results from affected centres pending the conclusion of investigations.
Candidates impacted by the development are expected to participate in a mop-up examination in line with existing examination procedures.
The police warned candidates, examination officials and centre operators against involvement in examination malpractice, cyber fraud or unauthorized access to examination systems.
In a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer Anthony Placid on behalf of the police headquarters in Abuja, the Force reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and prosecuting criminal networks seeking to undermine the credibility of Nigeria’s educational system.
Authorities said investigations remain ongoing as security agencies intensify efforts to safeguard the integrity of public examinations across the country.
