Before Politics, My Akara Business Made ₦10 Million Monthly — Governor Eno

AKWA Ibom Governor Umo Eno has disclosed that he earned no less than ₦10 million monthly from selling akara and bread before venturing into politics.

The governor made the revelation while discussing his transition from entrepreneurship to public office.

Eno explained that he began with a simple akara and bread business. He called the product an “Akara Burger” and later expanded into a coffee shop.

He recalled that workers travelling to ExxonMobil became regular customers, particularly in the mornings.

“They will buy it in the morning, take coffee,” Eno said while describing how the business grew.

Over time, the venture became a substantial income source.

“Every month, that Akara business and Bread used to give me nothing less than ₦10 million in a month,” he said.

Eno repeated that the earnings were not below ₦10 million monthly.

His account has since attracted attention online. The disclosure also comes amid renewed interest in small-scale enterprises as a means of generating income.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu had earlier urged Nigerians to explore businesses such as akara and kuli-kuli.
