Asagba Accepts National Patron Role In Elite Sheriff Corps

Asagba Receives Dual Recognition
HIS Royal Majesty, Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, has been honoured with the titles of National Patron and Grand Patron, South-South Zone by the Elite Sheriff Corps of Nigeria.
The honours were conferred during a visit by senior officials of the organisation to the Asagba Palace in Asaba.
The delegation was led by the Corps’ Deputy Commander General for the South-South Region, Commander Benjamin Ontonye Benwari.
Focus on Revenue Generation and Tax Enforcement
During the engagement, the monarch highlighted the importance of taxation in national development, noting that no economy can thrive without effective revenue generation mechanisms.
He observed that the Elite Sheriff Corps could become an important institution in promoting tax compliance and supporting government revenue drives if fully recognised under Nigerian law.
The Asagba added that reducing tax evasion would strengthen economic growth and provide government with the resources needed for development projects.
Monarch Urges Responsible Governance
The traditional ruler also emphasized the importance of accountability in the use of public funds, insisting that citizens would be more willing to pay taxes when governance remains transparent and people-oriented.
He encouraged Nigerians to see tax payment as a civic responsibility necessary for nation-building.
The monarch further reaffirmed his support for institutions working towards peace, stability and national advancement.
Delegation Praises Asagba’s Leadership
Speaking on behalf of the Corps, Commander Benwari praised the Asagba’s leadership qualities, describing him as a respected national figure whose influence extends beyond Delta State.
He said the visit formed part of efforts to seek royal support and guidance as the organisation pushes for legislative approval and wider national recognition.
According to him, the Corps remains committed to promoting lawful compliance and supporting national development initiatives.
