THE Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has condemned the attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, where bandits killed the school’s Vice Principal and abducted 25 female students.
In a statement from Gombe, the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, described the attack as senseless and unacceptable, warning that repeated assaults on schools threaten the region’s stability and Nigeria’s educational progress.
Yahaya extended condolences to the government and people of Kebbi State, especially the affected families, and assured Governor Nasir Idris of the Forum’s support.
He called for an urgent, coordinated rescue operation and urged security agencies to ensure the safe return of the students and the arrest of the perpetrators.
Reaffirming the NSGF’s commitment to work with the Federal Government on security, Yahaya stressed that schools must remain safe spaces for learning. He also encouraged communities to remain vigilant and support security efforts to combat criminality across the region.
