Tompolo Denies Giving Federal Government 21-Day Ultimatum To Release Nnamdi Kanu
NIGER Delta ex-militant leader and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has denied reports circulating on social media that he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement signed by Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Media Consultant to Tompolo, the Ijaw leader described the viral report as “false, mischievous, and the handiwork of enemies determined to tarnish his reputation.”
“We wish to state unequivocally and unambiguously that Tompolo did not author the said publication. High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the false report is being circulated by individuals who are uncomfortable with Tompolo’s ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal crude oil operations in the Niger Delta.
“It is clearly the handwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out there to discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the region. These people have failed and will continue to fail because he will not relent in carrying out his duty to eradicate oil theft,” it added.
Dr. Bebenimibo emphasized that Tompolo remains a strong supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We wish to reassure the Federal Government, led by our dynamic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government,” the statement said.
The media consultant further disclosed that Tompolo not only backs the administration but also endorses President Tinubu for a second term, pledging to work toward the realization of that goal.
“Tompolo remains firm and reaffirms his endorsement of Mr. President for a second term,” Bebenimibo concluded, urging the public to ignore the false publication in its entirety.
The fake report, which surfaced on social media platforms earlier this week, claimed that Tompolo issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu or face consequences.
However, the ex-militant leader — who currently oversees federal oil pipeline surveillance operations through Tantita Security Services — has distanced himself from any political or separatist agitation, maintaining focus on combating oil theft and protecting Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
