NSC Unveils National Intermediate Games 2026 To Develop U-19 Talents
By AUGUSTUS ISICHEI
THE National Sports Commission (NSC) has named Lagos State as host of the maiden National Intermediate Games set for 2026, targeting athletes aged 16 to 19.
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko said the initiative will bridge the gap between grassroots and elite sports, providing a structured pathway for young athletes. He noted that sustainable international success depends on strong grassroots systems.
Director General Bukola Olopade added that the games will complement the National Youth Games and National Sports Festival, helping address age-related challenges in talent development.
The event, part of the NSC’s RHINSE initiative, aims to nurture and monitor emerging talents for future elite performance.
