Asagba Expresses Satisfaction As Permanent Palace Project Nears Major Milestone

Monarch Inspects Ongoing Palace Development
THE Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work at the ongoing Asagba Permanent Palace project, describing the development as a significant milestone in the effort to build a lasting cultural and administrative landmark for the Asaba Kingdom.
During an inspection of the project site on Monday, the monarch commended the quality and progress of construction, noting that substantial work had been completed while expressing confidence that even greater achievements lay ahead.
Event Centre Set for Commissioning
Speaking after inspecting the facilities, the revered traditional ruler disclosed that the Asaba Event Centre, one of the flagship components of the palace complex, is expected to be ready for commissioning either in August or by the second week of September.
According to him, the facility is scheduled to host activities marking his second coronation anniversary, underscoring the importance of completing the project within the projected timeline.
The monarch said construction had advanced considerably since his previous visit and praised the commitment of everyone involved in delivering the project.
A Lasting Legacy for Asaba
Asagba Azinge described the permanent palace project as a historic investment that would stand as a symbol of the identity, unity and cultural heritage of the Asaba people for generations to come.
He stressed that the palace complex would not merely serve as the official residence of the Asagba but would also become a dignified and enduring institution that reflects the aspirations and pride of the entire Asaba Kingdom.
Expressing optimism about the project’s future, he said history would remember the community for undertaking such a visionary initiative.
Community Ownership Remains Central
The monarch also reaffirmed that the Asaba Event Centre would remain a community facility and would not be commercialised.
He explained that the centre is intended primarily for meetings, cultural activities and social events organised by members of the Asaba community, rather than for commercial purposes.
According to him, the project has remained largely community-driven, demonstrating the determination of the people to invest in their own development before seeking broader government support.
Appreciation for Contributors
Asagba Azinge expressed gratitude to God, members of the Asaba community, the project management team and all individuals who have contributed to the successful execution of the palace project.
He noted that the visible transformation of the site since his last inspection reflected the dedication and collective commitment of stakeholders towards delivering a befitting permanent palace for the kingdom.
