Oborevwori Marks 63rd Birthday With Message of Faith & Public Service

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, celebrated his 63rd birthday on Thursday with a thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel, Asaba, where he reflected on God’s faithfulness and the responsibilities of leadership.

The event brought together family members, government officials, religious leaders and political associates, who joined the governor in offering prayers for continued peace, progress and development in Delta State.

A Celebration Rooted in Faith

Rather than focusing on festivities, the governor described the occasion as an opportunity to acknowledge God’s grace and mercy throughout his life’s journey.

He noted that surviving life’s challenges and attaining another year were reasons enough to return thanks to God, whom he credited for sustaining him in both private and public life.

For Oborevwori, gratitude remains a central aspect of his Christian faith, and he said no birthday celebration would be complete without first giving honour to God.

Appreciating Deltans’ Support

The governor also used the occasion to thank residents of Delta State and all those who have supported him throughout his political career.

He expressed appreciation for the trust placed in his administration and pledged to continue working tirelessly to deliver good governance and meaningful development across the state.

According to him, the support and goodwill of the people have been invaluable in helping his administration pursue its objectives.

Leadership Requires Divine Direction

Oborevwori emphasised that effective leadership cannot be separated from wisdom and divine guidance.

He therefore appealed to citizens to continue praying for leaders entrusted with public responsibilities, stressing that governance demands sound judgment and a commitment to the common good.

The governor expressed confidence that with God’s help and the support of the people, the state would continue to make progress in key sectors.

Sermon Focuses on Wisdom and Peace

In his sermon, Government House Chaplain, Venerable Charles Osemenam, congratulated the governor on reaching the age of 63 and prayed for greater strength and wisdom for the years ahead.

Using the example of King Solomon, he encouraged leaders to seek wisdom as the foundation for successful governance.

The cleric commended Oborevwori’s efforts to promote peace and unity among the various ethnic groups and communities in Delta State, describing such qualities as essential for sustainable development.

He prayed that God would continue to grant the governor wisdom, patience and strength to guide the state toward greater prosperity.

The thanksgiving service concluded with special prayers for the governor, his administration and the people of Delta State, while the symbolic cutting of the birthday cake added a celebratory touch to the occasion.
