Cult Violence Escalates In Agbor As Rival Groups Clash, Several Injured

Renewed Cult Clashes Shake Agbor and Surrounding Communities
Violence Spreads Across Multiple Flashpoints
AGBOR and neighbouring communities in Delta State have witnessed a fresh wave of violent incidents linked to an ongoing cult clash involving rival groups identified as Aye (NBM), Eiye (ACN), and Maphite (GCAI).
The conflict, which reportedly began in Owa-Alero, has continued to escalate, with multiple attacks recorded across Orikeze Junction, Owanta, and other surrounding areas, raising concerns over growing insecurity in the region.
Authorities and community observers say the situation remains volatile as retaliatory attacks continue to fuel tension.
Shooting Incident at Orikeze Junction
In one of the latest incidents, a suspected member of the Aye confraternity, identified as Meki, was shot twice in the head by alleged members of the Eiye group near Orikeze Junction, close to Agbor Paparazzi.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred close to his mother’s shop, a well-known food vending point in the area.
Meki was said to have stepped out to watch a World Cup match when the attack happened. He was rushed to hospital and, according to available accounts, survived the shooting.
Sources further suggested that he was not actively involved in cult activities, a factor some believe contributed to his being caught in the attack.
Retaliatory Attacks Linked to Maphite Group
Earlier developments reportedly involved retaliatory attacks attributed to members of the Maphite confraternity in the Owanta axis, following alleged earlier confrontations with Eiye members.
In the incident, two individuals were attacked. One was confirmed killed on the spot, while the second sustained severe injuries and was later reported to have died, though this remains unverified.
Claims regarding the affiliations of the victims remain disputed, with no independent confirmation from security sources.
Vikings Member Also Caught in Crossfire
During the wider clash, a member of the Vikings confraternity (DNKI) was reportedly shot in the hand.
While some accounts blamed Aye members, others suggested the victim may have been mistakenly hit during a Maphite operation in the area.
The injured Vikings member reportedly survived and is said to have information about those responsible for the attack.
Continued Attacks and Security Concerns
Additional incidents were reported around College Road Junction, further deepening fears of continued violence in the area.
Security watchers say the pattern of attacks suggests an ongoing cycle of retaliation between rival groups, with innocent bystanders at risk.
Efforts to confirm details of the latest incidents are ongoing as the situation develops.
