Nigeria To Host ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers Again

Abuja to Host Africa Sub-Regional Cricket Battles
NIGERIA has been confirmed as host of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional C Qualifiers, scheduled to hold from 18 to 25 October 2026.
The confirmation came from the International Cricket Council, reinforcing Nigeria’s growing role as a key hub for cricket development in Africa.
This will be the second time in a row that the country hosts this stage of the qualification series.
Nigeria’s Strong Track Record at Sub-Regional Level
The Yellow Greens previously dominated the 2024 edition of the Sub-Regional C Qualifiers held in Abuja, winning the tournament with a game to spare.
However, despite that strong performance, Nigeria was unable to secure a place at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after falling short at the regional finals.
The 2026 edition now offers another opportunity for the team to push deeper into the qualification pathway.
Six Nations, Two Tickets, High Stakes
The tournament will feature Nigeria, Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda, and Zambia competing for just two available spots in the next qualification round.
With limited advancement slots, every match will carry significant weight, leaving little room for error.
Uganda and Zambia, in particular, are expected to provide strong opposition based on recent regional performances.
Nigeria’s Chance to Reassert Regional Dominance
Playing at home in Abuja gives Nigeria a strategic advantage as they aim to rebuild momentum in African cricket.
The Yellow Greens will be hoping to convert familiarity with conditions into consistent match-winning performances.
A strong showing would not only boost qualification hopes but also reinforce Nigeria’s rising profile in international cricket.
