Oborevwori Commends APC Over Peaceful Governorship Primary in Delta
DELTA State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has applauded the leadership of the All Progressives Congress for conducting what he described as a peaceful, transparent and credible governorship primary election across the state.
The governor gave the commendation shortly after casting his vote at his ward in Oha, Okpe Local Government Area, where party faithful turned out in large numbers for the exercise.
Governor Praises Direct Primary System
Speaking with journalists after participating in the primary, Oborevwori said the direct primary model adopted by the APC demonstrated genuine internal democracy and grassroots participation.
According to him, the process allowed party members to freely participate in the selection of their candidate and reflected the growing democratic culture within the party.
He noted that the conduct of the exercise should serve as a model for political parties seeking to deepen internal democracy and strengthen public confidence in electoral processes.
The governor also commended party members for their orderly conduct and commitment throughout the exercise.
Call for Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections
Oborevwori stressed the need for unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, assuring party members that reconciliation efforts would be intensified to address grievances and strengthen cohesion within the party.
He said peace, inclusiveness and internal harmony remained critical to building a formidable political structure capable of sustaining electoral success in the state.
The governor urged party supporters and stakeholders to remain committed to collective goals rather than individual interests.
Oborevwori Secures Massive Votes
Announcing the result at the ward level, Returning Officer Chief Isaac Itebu disclosed that Governor Oborevwori polled 4,759 votes out of 4,760 registered party members.
He described the turnout as a strong demonstration of support and confidence in the governor’s leadership within the APC structure in Delta State.
Onyeme Commends Massive Participation
Also speaking after voting at Onicha-Ukwuani Ward 5, Delta State Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, praised the turnout recorded during the primary election.
Onyeme described the level of participation by party members as an endorsement of the administration’s policies and programmes.
He urged Deltans to replicate the enthusiasm and peaceful conduct witnessed during the APC primary in the 2027 general elections.
At the ward, Returning Officer Mr. Great Omulu announced that 3,157 votes were recorded under the Option A4 voting system.
Peaceful Exercise Across Delta
The governorship primary, monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, was reportedly conducted peacefully across the wards in Delta State.
Party leaders and stakeholders who monitored the exercise commended members for maintaining discipline and ensuring a smooth electoral process.
Observers noted that the peaceful conduct of the primary reinforced the APC’s emphasis on party unity, internal democracy and preparations ahead of future electoral contests.
