Aghalino Formally Assumes Duty
THE new Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, has officially assumed office following an inaugural thanksgiving service held at the Chapel of Resurrection on campus.
The ceremony marked the formal transition of leadership and set the tone for a new phase in the university’s development trajectory.
Clergy Emphasise Value-Driven Leadership
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Asaba, Rt. Rev’d Kingsley Obuh, the Sub-Dean underscored the spiritual and moral dimensions of academic leadership.
Speaking on the theme “Wisdom for Leadership and Lasting Impact,” he described Aghalino’s emergence as divinely inspired and urged the university community to support the new administration.
He stressed that sustainable institutional growth depends not only on infrastructure but also on integrity, wisdom, and a strong moral foundation.
Outgoing VC Reflects on Legacy
The outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Oghojafor, expressed gratitude for a successful tenure, noting that the university had made significant progress despite early challenges.
He highlighted key achievements, including:
- Establishment of international academic partnerships
- Expansion of admission opportunities
- Development of a 25-year strategic growth plan
Oghojafor stated that the institution is now better positioned for long-term stability and advancement.
Government Reaffirms Confidence
Representing the state government, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, described Aghalino as a globally respected scholar with the capacity to elevate the university’s profile.
He assured that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori would continue to support the institution’s growth.

In his acceptance remarks, Aghalino expressed appreciation to God and the state government, pledging to reposition the university for global competitiveness.
