Governor praises senator’s public service record
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, on his 59th birth anniversary.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor praised the senator for his sustained contributions to the growth and development of Delta State.
Oborevwori noted that Joel-Onowakpo had built a commendable record in public service, describing him as a committed leader with a strong sense of responsibility.
Recognition for revenue reforms and legislative work
The governor recalled the senator’s previous roles as Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council and former Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue.
He said the lawmaker distinguished himself through reforms and initiatives that boosted the state’s internally generated revenue and strengthened its financial position.
Oborevwori also commended the senator’s performance in the National Assembly, especially as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content.
He further praised his role in the passage of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko (Establishment) Act, describing it as a significant contribution to national development.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate my dear brother and Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, FCA, on the occasion of his 59th birth anniversary,” the governor said.
