No Rigging, No Violence: Delta APC Says It Will Let Its Performance Speak In 2027
THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has pledged to focus on policies, governance and performance during its campaigns for the 2027 general elections. The party has also urged political actors to avoid violence, inflammatory remarks and actions that could threaten the state’s peace.
Charles Aniagwu, Chairman of the Delta APC Campaign Council’s Media and Publicity Committee, gave the assurance on Monday in Asaba. He spoke while unveiling members of the committee to journalists.
Aniagwu named Valentine Onojeguo as vice chairman and Timi Tonye as secretary. Other members include Festus Ahon, Kelly Okolugbo and Jackson Ekwugum.
He said the committee would highlight the performance, policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. It would also cover other APC candidates contesting seats in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate.
According to him, the committee would work with journalists to provide voters with accurate information about the party’s candidates and their plans. He urged the media to help communicate the APC’s message as the election season approaches.
“We will stay with the issues,” Aniagwu said, stressing that the campaign would address governance and matters affecting the welfare of residents.
He expressed confidence that the committee’s experience would enable it to answer questions about the party’s candidates, policies and programmes. Rather than rely on personal attacks, he said, the APC intended to present its achievements and explain its plans to voters.
However, Aniagwu warned politicians and their supporters against rhetoric that could provoke violence. He said inflammatory statements might encourage supporters to take the law into their own hands and turn political disagreements into confrontations.
He added that the state government would not tolerate violence, regardless of the political affiliation of those involved. Citing Governor Oborevwori’s position that nobody stands above the law, he urged political actors to respect the rules and preserve public order.
The campaign spokesman also said the APC would not engage in electoral rigging. Instead, he maintained that the party would present its record in government and ask voters to judge its candidates on their performance.
Aniagwu further advised residents against taking the law into their own hands when they suspect electoral misconduct. Rather than resort to attacks or reprisals at polling units, he urged them to report suspected violations to security agencies and allow the law to take its course.
“We are not in a jungle republic,” he said, rejecting calls for jungle justice and warning that such actions could undermine the state’s stability.
The APC spokesman expressed optimism that the policies and reforms pursued by the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations would help secure the party’s electoral prospects. He maintained that the campaign would focus on explaining those programmes and presenting what the party considers its record of performance to the electorate.
